Holiday diverts allow you to pre-schedule how calls are handled during office closures. You can send calls straight to a holiday voicemail or divert them to a different number (e.g., a "Working from Home" mobile) for example during the period between Christmas and New Year.
Option 1: Self-Service (Individual SIMs)
If you are managing a single line, you can configure these dates directly in your dashboard.
Log In: Access your dashboard.
Select User: Click Users in the left-hand menu and select the specific SIM.
Navigate: Click the Calls tab at the top of the profile.
Configure Off Days:
Use the Specific Dates tool to select your custom holiday range.
Tip: Check the UK Public Holidays box to automatically apply standard bank holiday routing.
Set Routing: Choose your "Off Day" behavior (e.g., toggle Ring to OFF and Voicemail to ON).
Save: Click Save Changes to activate the schedule.
Option 2: Managed Setup (Multiple SIMs, Hunt Groups, or IVRs)
For bulk updates or complex business menus (IVRs), our support team will implement the diverts for you.
Please email support@onsim.uk at least 2 working days in advance with the following details:
Closure Details: The exact time and date the office will close.
Reopening Details: The exact time and date the office will return to normal hours.
Routing Instructions: Where calls should be directed during the closure (e.g., a specific voicemail box or an external mobile number).
💡 Holiday Pro-Tip
If you are diverting to voicemail, don't forget to update your greeting! You can upload a custom "Closed for Christmas" recording via the Voicemail section in your dashboard to give your customers specific reopening dates.
⚠️ Important: The Role of Voicemail
We strongly recommend keeping Voicemail enabled as the final step in your call routing.
Why? If a call reaches the end of your routing chain (e.g., you don't answer and no forward is set) and Voicemail is turned OFF, the call will simply disconnect. This can be confusing for customers, who may assume your line is broken or that the call failed. Keeping Voicemail active ensures every caller has a professional way to leave a message.
