A common concern with modern calling is whether "Voice over Data" technology will eat into your monthly gigabytes.
The simple answer is no. On the OnSim network, making a VoLTE call does not use your data allowance.
How it Works
Even though VoLTE technically sends your voice as data packets over the 4G/LTE network, our system is designed to distinguish between "Voice Data" and "Internet Data."
Standard Minute Usage: Your VoLTE calls are billed exactly like traditional calls. They are deducted from your monthly minute allowance (or are covered by your unlimited plan).
Zero Data Drain: Because we "free-rate" this traffic, you can talk for hours without using a single megabyte of your 2GB, 10GB, or 40GB data bundle.
Works Without Data: In most cases, even if you have completely run out of data for the month, your VoLTE calls will still work as long as you have minutes remaining on your plan.
VoLTE vs. VoIP (The Big Difference)
It is important not to confuse VoLTE with VoIP apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, or Skype.
VoIP Apps: These do use your data allowance because they travel over the public internet.
OnSim VoLTE: This is a native network service. It stays within our private, high-priority "voice lane," which is why it doesn't cost you any data.
