The ONSIM SMS Gateway acts as a secure bridge between your business software and the mobile network. It is designed for developers and compliance teams who require granular control over their mobile communications.

How It Works

The gateway functions by sitting "in the path" of every text message. When an SMS is sent or received, it is intercepted and passed to your pre-configured endpoint.

  1. User Sends SMS: A staff member sends a text through the regular SMS app on their phone.

  2. Intercept & Queue: The SMS is held in our gateway.

  3. Webhook Broadcast: ONSIM sends the message details to your server.

  4. Check & Confirm: Your server checks the message and sends an API call back to ONSIM to "Confirm" (send), "Modify," or "Reject" the message.

  • Native Compliance Recording: Natively record every SMS for compliance by saving the content as it passes through the gateway.

  • Filter Profanity & Abuse: Programmatically scan messages for inappropriate language and block them before they ever reach the recipient.

  • Prevent Data Leaks: Automatically check messages for sensitive data (like credit card numbers or internal IDs) to guarantee secure communication.

  • Add Disclaimers: Automatically append a signature, disclaimer, or legal footer to every outbound SMS.

  • SMS Hunt-Groups: Broadcast an inbound SMS to a whole group of users simultaneously—the first to reply takes the conversation.

  • Monitor Response Times: Track how quickly your team is replying to customers. SMS is no longer a "black hole" of untracked data.

Sending Inbound SMS via API

You can also use the API to deliver messages to any of your ONSIM SIMs. This is an excellent way to send staff alerts or bulk notifications without paying the high costs associated with traditional bulk-SMS providers.

  • No App Required: For your staff, the experience is invisible. They continue to use their phone's built-in messaging app.
